Easter Baskets
Lucy Sanzalone and her Health and Wellness Committee assembled 20 easter baskets for the kids at Dottie's House. The baskets were filled with lots of fun toys and activities for the kids as well as a few sweet treats. This is an annual activity for the group and is always a hit with the kids.
Stuffed Animals for the Brielle First Aid Squad
At their March 10 meeting, the Evening Group collected stuffed animals for the Brielle First Aid Squad. The animals are used when the Squad has a call in a home where there is a young child who is upset by events. A stuffed animal is often helpful in calming the child.
Jewelry Sale
The Jewelry Committee was very happy to (finally) hold their vintage jewelry sale on March 12, 2022. The sale was originally planned for May 2020 but Covid changed their plans. Although the weather was nasty, there was a steady flow of shoppers until the snow began. All things considered, the sale was a success.

OUR 54th YEAR
Christmas 2021
Members of the Brielle Woman’s Club met on December 9, 2021 for a Christmas play, written by member Evelyn Tuttle. The show was stolen by the youngest cast members who really believed that our Santa, played by Peggy Zielenbach, was the real thing! The play was followed by a Christmas lunch.
Tulip Award 2021
We want to congratulate Connie Russell for winning the 2021 Tulip Award. This award is presented to an experienced member in honor of their outstanding service to the Club. Among her many accomplishments, Connie has organized the Fall Luncheon and served as a past president.
Christmas Stockings for the Troops
Every year member Lucy Sanzalone spearheads the project to collect filled stockings for US troops. This year, the club donated 69 stockings which were packed up and delivered to the NJSFWC headquarters to be shipped to the appropriate agencies.
Brielle Day 2021
After missing Brielle Day in 2020, the Woman’s Club once again took to the field for a very successful day. Because the event was held on the 20th anniversary of September 11, we held two patriotic programs on the field and hosted a tent where people could write their thoughts and memories on our ‘Wall’. We also added a new photo opportunity where children, and adults could have fun pictures taken of them behind cutouts of first responders.
It was a lovely day, and everyone appeared to have a wonderful time.
Yoga in the Park
The evening group held a very successful yoga event on July 24 in the park outside Curtis House. Over 80 people attended. The first session was for ‘mommy and me’. The second was yoga for adults. The sessions were led by evening group member Kattia Lohmann who is a certified yoga instructor. She is pictured with her own child. The event was for the benefit of young Donovan Leso who has been fighting a rare form of brain cancer. The Leso family is also pictured. Click on the image for full view.
May Luncheon
After a long hard year of Zoom meetings and trying to continue a normally as possible, the Woman’s Club held their end of year luncheon at Riverside Park in Point Pleasant on May 13, 2021. It was great to see everyone in person instead of on Zoom. The weather was sunny, if a bit chilly. We had a delicious, bagged lunch from Whole Foods with some home-baked goodies for dessert. Everyone had a good time and we look forward to resuming our in-person meetings in the fall.
During the luncheon the Tulip award was presented. This award is given each year to a club member for outstanding contribution to the club over many years. This year‘s recipient is Jayne Linfante. Jayne has been an active member since 2015 and has served as the chairwoman for the Brielle Day craft fair committee for several years.
The Woman's Club Cookbook
The Cookbook Committee was busy in January and February 2021 collecting and organizing recipes from our members, and recipes formerly submitted by previous members, to make a new Woman’s Club of Brielle Cookbook. After much hard work and coordination with the printing company, the cookbook was finally ready for distribution on May. This attractive, hard-bound volume contains more than 200 time-tested recipes from more than 90 present and former members. It would be a great addition to any kitchen library.
Evening Group Fleece Blankets
We are proud of our Evening Group. At their March meeting, they came together and made no-sew fleece blankets that were then donated to Ocean Partnership for Children.
The Evening group welcomed Mary Jo Buchanan from Ocean Partnership for Children to their April Meeting. They learned about the organization where the fleece blankets they made at their previous meeting were donated.
Every Spring the Woman's Club of Brielle makes beautiful Easter Baskets. Lucy Sanzalone (pictured above), Chairperson of our Health and Wellness Committee spearheads the event. The baskets were distributed to needy children in the area. (click on image to see full picture).

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE 2020
COAT DRIVE 2020
Every Fall the Woman's Club of Brielle collects gently used coats. Lucy Sanzalone (pictured above), Chairperson of our Health and Wellness Committee runs the drive. This year, members of our club dropped off the coats at Lucy house and she organized them for pick-up. The coats are distributed to needy people in the area.
Operation: Chillout
The Women's Club of Brielle is participating in the Special State Project , Operation Chillout, which benefits homeless veterans. This project is being co-chaired by Tonia Scelfo and Gail Kritch. Members are asked to purchase either online or at a store men's and women's zippered hooded medium or heavyweight sweatshirts (probably the warmer, the better) size large or extra large. Men's colors black, blue, gray, and green camo. Women's colors black, blue, grey, and "ladies colors." Again, the warmer the better. Bring your purchases to the monthly meetings and Randi will deliver them to Headquarters. Those who cannot shop can write a check to the Woman’s Club of Brielle and we will do the shopping for you. Zippered hooded sweatshirts are priced from $10 to $12 (Amazon, Walmart, etc.). We have also been asked to write a little note on a business size card with a sentiment, such as "Thinking of you." (No religious references). Sue Stenson has provided the cards which we'll distribute at our meetings. We'll collect them and mail them to headquarters. They'll be placed in th sweatshirts before distribution to the vets. It's suggested that the cards are decorated in red, white, and blue. The project runs until October 25, 2020.

Creative Arts
The Creative Arts Group made this cute Easter bunnies. Each person brought wash cloths that were to be the color of the bunny. Joan had google eyes, small black pompoms for the nose and cotton balls for the tails. Lucy bought the plastic eggs and jelly beans. We attached the eyes, nose and tail. Rubber bands and ribbon were tied around the wash cloth to make the bunny shape. We made several of the bunnies and put an egg filled with jelly beans inside. Joan was nice enough to deliver the finished product.
